assumed that you had received the monies; and I do not remember

seeing any.

My suspicions when I saw the note in Lam Ny Singh's case

were aroused about your general behaviour but not about that

particular case: I am sure of tids. Your uncle Subadar Major

Mahomet Ali came to see me before July 12th. I don't know the date exactly.

-

He told me that you had told him something about my checking your work after you had left the Registry and that he would like

to know what it was in order to arrange the matter. I did not tell

him that there was nothing wrong except about 2 small items of

money.

I told him to send you to me but I did not tell him that if

you gave a proper explanation the watter might end.

Mr. Alim Khan was not transferred under any cloud.

On 11th. July, 1913, you came to see me of your own accord.

2nd. December, 1913.

Mr. H. A. Nisbet (recalled). Cross-examined (continued.)

I don't remember se sing notes of payments made to you in

other files. I should not necessarily think if I had seen such

notes, that you had received the money but might have thought it

was the shroff.

(Witness produces No. 162/12. Letters of Administration in

which there is a note of payment by Mr. A.K. and the stampe affix-

-ed; but kir. A. K. points out that this does not sow that the

shroff received the money).

I did not ask the shroff if he had received the money in Nam

Ly Singh's case; the shroff would have had to hold the money if he had received it but ought to have bought stamps with the money

and held it: but he should not have received it.

I asked you and not the shroff because I thought you had the money. I thought you had the money because there was no reason for
